1972/2013 AM General M35A2C Military 2-1/2 ton 6X6 Cargo Truck with DROP-SIDE CARGO BED, CAB HEATER/DEFROST and NEW 46″ SUPER SINGLES COMPLETE BODY-OFF-THE-FRAME CUSTOM RESTORATION Purchased in July 2013 in this condition. Wife says we have too many toys so it has to go! This truck came out of the US Army’s National Training Center in Fort Irwin California so it was always a West Coast high-desert truck. And being a staff truck used at a premier front-line training center means that it was always well maintained. It was manufactured in 1972 by AM General and is loaded with all the factory extras Almost every major and minor mechanical part is new or rebuilt – from all the wheel bearings (inner and outer), axle seals and brakes to the Injection/Lift Pump, Injectors, Air Lines, most of the Wiring, Gaskets, Hoses, Fluids, Alternator and Batteries! It started as a stock 6X6 M35A2C from the military that was already in excellent shape, pulled the bed and the most of the cab off the frame, and then went completely through the motor, stripped the frame and the body and reassembled it. Then the Drop-Side cargo bed gets a double coat of primer and two thick coats of a premium bed liner for durability and looks. The frame and all body panels are also sanded and prepped and then they get 2 coats of a high quality filler primer. After more sanding and prep, 2 coats of Military Olive Drab paint goes on and once cured under the lamps, all the stenciling is replaced. The interior, engine compartment and undercarriage receive as much prep and attention prior to painting as the body did. We replace most of the wiring, brake lines and air lines and then turn the rear hubs (replacing the inner and outer wheel bearings and axle seals at the same time) so the front and rear tires track correctly – we don’t cut corners and use offset wheels – this way you can rotate your tires any time you want. Lastly we put a NEW set of MONSTER 46″ tall Michelin Super Single 395/85R20 XML’s with new custom 2-piece military wheels underneath this beast (new O-Rings, Valve Stems, Plates). Anything that needed work is replaced with new OEM parts – not repaired or rebuilt. Back together, this truck is HUGE and very capable – it would be almost impossible to get this truck stuck with the 6-wheel drive, and the 46 inch tires gives you a top speed increase to 60 miles an hour at 2,400 rpm’s. Even with the size of this truck though, it is surprising easy to drive.
